At Hulane, we promise to perform effectively while considering the long-term impacts on the environment and society. The commitment extends through products, production, the value chain, and the community.
We believe that when innovating products, we can optimize efficiency and performance while managing the environmental impact.
We've obtained ISO 14067 to manage the lifecycle of all our products. We monitor our carbon footprint from sourcing and design to manufacturing, logistics, and client usage, aiming to minimize environmental impacts at every stage.
As the world transitions to electric vehicles (EVs) as a sustainable alternative to fossil-fueled transportation, we have been developing connectors and wiring solutions specifically for EVs. Our products enable electric vehicles to achieve greater energy efficiency and performance, facilitate faster charging times, and improve power management.
We practice responsible production because we trust that it is the fundamental and one of the most practical ways to minimize environmental impact and conserve resources.
In 2022, Hulane initiated greenhouse gas inventories and received ISO 14064-1 certification for our Taipei facility. Starting in 2023, all our global production sites will conduct greenhouse gas inventories and emission quantification to gradually reduce carbon emission intensity every year and move toward carbon neutrality.
We rigorously treat and monitor wastewater on-site quarterly to meet effluent standards. Additionally, 20% of our wastewater is recycled back into production to optimize water resources. In 2022, we optimized the electroplating process in our Taipei facility to conserve water, significantly reducing water consumption by approximately 49.73%.
We have replaced all hydraulic molding machines at our Taipei site with all-electric models, boosting energy efficiency and reducing electricity use by 50%. In 2022, we also began solar energy installations at Taipei and Vietnam sites. These solar panels can produce 450,000 kWh of solar electricity annually, which reduces our dependency on non-renewable power sources in the long term.
To ensure lasting impact, we believe sustainability is achieved through collective efforts across the entire value chain by actively collaborating with partners and suppliers.
We conduct comprehensive ESG evaluations and on-site audits of all Hulane's suppliers to ensure that our supply chain upholds the same high standards for environmental and ethical practices.
Our current suppliers adhere 100% to RoHS/REACH regulations, which restrict hazardous substances and prohibit the use of conflict minerals. This promotes environmental sustainability and guarantees product safety for consumers. We are also closing in on our ecological footprint through more local raw material sourcing.
We uphold the principle of contributing to society and are dedicated to supporting the well-being of people and the environment.
Hulane has organized annual beach cleanups and removal of invasive species to protect native ecosystems. By involving our employees and their families, these efforts not only help preserve our surroundings but also raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection.
Aligned with Hulane's commitment to contributing to society, we have dedicated 0.1% of our net profits to scholarships since 2004, supporting students facing financial hardships to continue to excel academically. As of 2022, 365 students have benefited from the program.
Since 2008, July and August have been Hulane's charity months. We have dedicated our time and efforts to organizing charity sales and donating to enhance society’s welfare. Our efforts also ensure a long-term improvement in the living conditions of underprivileged children and the elderly and support the local NGOs.
Sustainability is in multiple aspects of Hulane's operations. Learn more from our latest ESG report on how we drive sustainability in the environment, society, and governance.
